September/October Arts Visalia Press Release Eryn Williams Exhibition and Opening Reception at Arts Visalia In September 2018, Arts Visalia will host artist, Eryn Williams, in her solo exhibition, entitled Art by Eryn, in which she will display an impressionistic body of painted storyteller works that demonstrate vibrant colors and thick brush strokes. Her passion for art allows her to express her feelings in a unique way, relaxes her mind, and allows her to connect with others, including her late father, who ironically, was originally resistant to the idea of accepting Eryn’s passion for art. Eryn’s recent works contain people with minor detail in their faces so that viewers can relate to each piece without objectification. Eryn Williams was born and raised in Visalia and went to Mt. Whitney High School after which she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and Art Studio from UC Davis. She currently resides and has an art studio in downtown Fresno and is part of the Thursday ArtHop. This exhibition runs from September 5th through September 28th. The opening reception is free to the public and will be held on First Friday, September 7th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is sponsored in part by Bueno Beverage Company, Jack & Charlie’s, the Vintage Press Restaurante, the Southern Pacific Depot Restaurant, and the County Center Rotary. In October, Arts Visalia is pleased to present both the annual 3-Dimensional Form and Function Exhibition, entitled The Woodworkers, and 2-Dimensional artist, Mikayla Gutierrez. The woodworkers are compiled mostly of a group of woodturners based in the Central San Joaquin Valley since 1997, called Sequoia Woodturners. The club meets on a bi-monthly basis and is a member of the American Association of Woodturners. Demonstrations take place at the meeting to promote the free exchange of ideas and designs and improve woodturning skills. Young artist, Mikayla Gutierrez, is from Visalia, California. Inspired by her deepest emotions, she has always used art as an outlet for expression. Many of her works contain feelings of bright colors and deep beauty through the culmination of imagination and reality and the expression of cultural ideals. Arts Visalia’s adult and children’s art classes will resume again in the fall, starting in October and ending in December. Adult participants can look forward to oil painting, watercolor, figure drawing, cyanotype printmaking, relief printing and pencil drawing. Participants in our children’s classes will learn about different techniques utilizing drawing, sculpture, and paper.
