Curious how you can help your community when they need it most? In 2019, we helped nearly 100 families in Tulare County who were affected by disasters both big and small.
Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local, personal disasters like home fires. They may not make the news, but we know they are just as devastating to the families affected. Trained and available, Disaster Action Team volunteers are ready to respond to these emergencies, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our Disaster Action Team volunteers provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process to recovery. While our Preparedness Team ensures that families have free working smoke alarms and are Red Cross prepared for emergencies.
At this event, you can register as a new volunteer and receive information on how Red Cross volunteers respond to local disasters and how you can help. You will also have the change to interact with Red Cross staff and other volunteers to learn more about the Red Cross.
