DESCRIPTION:The WHD enforces Federal minimum wage\, overtime pay\, recordkeeping\,\n\nand child labor requirements of the Fair Labor Standards\n\nAct. WHD also enforces the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural\n\nWorker Protection Act\, the Employee Polygraph Protection Act\,\n\nthe Family and Medical Leave Act\, wage garnishment provisions\n\nof the Consumer Credit Protection Act\, and a number of employment\n\nstandards and worker protections as provided in several\n\nimmigration related statutes.\n\nAdditionally\, WHD administers and enforces the prevailing wage\n\nrequirements of the Davis Bacon Act and the Service Contract Act\n\nand other statutes applicable to Federal contracts for construction\n\nand for the provision of goods and services.\n\nThe presentation will cover an overview of the Agency\, Sacramento\n\nDistrict Office and a comprehensive overview of the Fair\n\nLabor Standards Act\, including the Minimum Wage\, Overtime\n\nand Recordkeeping Requirements\, and the Break time for Nursing\n\nMother's Provision of the Fair Labor Standards Act\, and common\n\nviolations and practices found in the Central Valley.\n\n\n\nJamika Lopez began her career with\n\nthe US Department of Labor\, Wage\n\nand Hour Division as an investigator\n\non the sunny island of Oahu with\n\nthe Honolulu District Office in 2007.\n\nShe then returned to California\n\nwhere she worked as an investigator\n\nfor the Los Angeles District Office\n\nand the Sacramento District Office.\n\nIn 2015 she began her role as\n\nthe Community Outreach Resource\n\n& Planning Specialist (CORPS) for the Sacramento District Office.\n\nPrior to joining the Department of Labor\, Jamika worked for wage\n\nand hour class action firms in the San Francisco-Bay Area representing\n\nlow wage workers.\n\nJamika graduated from the University of California\, Berkeley with a\n\nBachelor of Arts in English Literature and received her Juris Doctorate\n\nfrom the University of California\, Hastings College of the Law. She\n\nis committed to practice law in the State of California and is a member\n\nof the California State Bar Association.
